DECADES on Sunday night at 6pm marks a welcome return to Radio Victoria for Andy Mitchell after an absence of 21 years!
Back in 1979, Andy was the youngest presenter on the station at just 16. He produced and presented a Sunday evening News and Current
Affairs programme called “Final Edition”. It was the programme which launched his career as a Journalist. After Andy left
Radio Victoria in 1986 he joined Piccadilly Radio in Manchester as a reporter covering some massive stories of the time including
the Strangeways Riots in 1990.
A return to his home town in 1992 saw Andy become News Editor of Radio Wave 96.5... a position he still holds to this day as a well-known
voice on the air waves of the Fylde Coast!
Back on Radio Victoria, Andy is recreating his popular Sunday night show which ran on Radio Wave for nearly 3 years. DECADES
is “Our Kind of Music” if you grew up in the 70s and 80s. There's everything from Glam Rock to Disco with some of the songs you
don't normally hear on the radio. There's a chance to hear some of the vintage adverts of the time as well (remember the SMASH Martians?!)
PLUS the odd contest or two to help bring back the memories!
